Middlebury Snow Bowl, Vermont
Saturday, February 8, 2020
Sunny and cold; temps rising from the low single digits to the low 10s. Breezy, with the wind picking up through the day and clouds slowly moving in. POWDER DAY!
It snowed quite a bit the last couple of days, and the Snow Bowl wasn't able to open yesterday due to road conditions and some ice. So ... we had a powder day today. Pretty awesome, though we didn't set any SL, which was the original plan.
Ripped around with athletes on a general mountain tour. Made a journey back to the backside for the first time in a long time. It was fun, but there's really not that much snow, so there's a bunch of rock and dirt and plant avoidance. Best runs of the day were Ross, where there was some really fun soft snow on skiers right, Allen, where we could let it rip up top and then surf the soft stuff at the bottom, and the cut between Allen and Ross that had some really deep wind-blown stuff on the pitch. Super fun.
Overall, a really fun day. Will need to do something about the amount of snow that got into my boots today - that's unsustainable.
