Sunny, temps climbing into the mid 40s. Gorgeous spring day; too bad it’s early Feb. FIS Masters Cup GS day. Missed SG because of work.
Surface was excellent. Relatively firm, grippy. Held up well to the field of 125 or so.
First race I skied really well with minimal redirection until the pitch. Then, the pitch was a real struggle—got back on my heels, squashed a bit, just surviving. Happy overall, ended up 11 in Group A, maybe 18th-ish overall.
Second run was similar result, but got there differently. Way more scramble on the first “pitch”, but held it together, and then really tentative on the finish pitch and in the last delay across the road to the finish. Really threw away some time there.
Overall, a really fun day. The terrain is suuuuper limited, but the snow was fun to ski. Big angles, big arcs, big smiles.
