Yellow 42 Arrow Chutes, FSR 86, CA

The original plan was to bang out a quick lap on "The Nipple" off of Blue Lakes Road. However cold temps and a moderate wind nixed those in favor of a more east facing chute that lurks in the shadows of "The Nipple". My buddy Stev has named said chute the "B-Cup Chute" due to its proximity to the aforementioned "Nipple" (and the obvious lingerie entrendre, but also the fact that it is an appropriate "Plan B" to skiing "The Nipple"). While Blue Lakes Road is closed about 7 miles in, I was able to take advantage of an unlocked gate and a dirt access road that got me fairly close to my objective (I did have to break out the avy shovel and spend 20-minutes clearing the road at one point, though, due to snow coverage). The approach was pretty straight-forward and took roughly an hour. A quick lunch break atop the chute added a bit more time to the journey. As for the chute? It was sun-cupped something fierce; more like D cups. Thankfully, the snow was super soft and smearing through the cups was like spreading butter on gluten-free toast. The pitch was decent and there were some funky rollovers and a mini-waterfall to keep me company. And, due to snow coverage, I was able to ski about 65% of the way back to the truck. All in all not a bad quickie for the day.
