Mount Rose, NV

Showed up for work only to find out that I'd been called off. Since it was early (8 a.m.) I didn't feel like heading back home to sulk around, so I reached out to my buddy Craig N. and headed over to Mt. Rose. Was a bit disappointed that Rose didn't offer any discounts for season pass holders from other mountains or PSIA, but luckily Craig hooked me up with a $49 buddy pass. Skied with him and his lady Mary on the Slide side much of the morning, mashing soft bumps and some technical tree skiing. Hooked up with his buddy Dan as well as Matt and skied/rode some more after a snack and some cerveza. Ended the day with a slightly larger crew consisting of Janet-from-South Africa and her man and a few others. At one point I aided a young kid who was doing the Texas tuck down a black diamond and falling on his ass (dad was encouraging him to keep his poles tucked under his arms and lean back; I picked him up and encouraged him to keep his poles out in front of him and lean forward). Snow got a little pond-skimmy slushy near the bottom of Slide at the end of the day, but otherwise a solid day of spring skiing with some cool folks.
