Ski Cooper, Colorado

Mostly cloudy, very cold, rising from around 0F to the high single digits. Here for a masters SL race. Only 25ish on the start list, but we gave it a go. Race was on Piney, which was down a different side of the mountain that I hadn't been to before. Got a little lost trying to get there first thing, and slid in about halfway down for inspection. Got another run through so nbd.
It's a pretty weird trail - about 10-12 gates on a pretty reasonable pitch, and then dead flat. Suuuuper soft snow, since Cooper got about 2 ft this week.
First run was okay - the ruts were deep and sharp, and I was pretty defensive on the pitch. Second run was a bit disappointing. I was just super tentative on the pitch, didn't arc a single one of those turns or do anything with an offensive mindset. The flat was good, but I probably threw away 2 seconds on the pitch.
Ended up 3rd on the day, which is fine I guess, but ... disappointed a bit.
