Sunny, temps rising from around 30 to around 50. Exploring a new place again. Tried to follow the sun--spent about 3 hours skiing the Milly lift, waiting for the off-piste to soften. Eventually, it did, and there were some good lines in there. Ripped some groom too. Eventually, it started to get really heavy, wet, and sticky, so I moved on to the central pod.
Ripped groomers under the Crest Express lift, really getting big angles and early pressure. Fun stuff. Then tried to move to the pods further over and higher. Snake Creek was very sticky, so I moved over further to Great Western ... and I made a mistake not getting over there sooner. The view off the top was just phenomenal. Not sure what resort you could see in the distance, but ... best view of the trip, for sure.
Skiing was really good too-both the groom and the ungroomed. Could have kept going, but called it at 2:30 because my legs were shot and my right foot had been cramping/hurting since around 10. Then hung out in the lodge until 4, waiting for the canyon to open again.
I'd come back here. More of a mom-and-pop vibe, which is pretty cool. Terrain's not as big and gnarly as other places, but it's still very good. There were a few pitches that looked like they'd be really fun to ski, but avy danger is high and I didn't really want to boot pack anyway (plus, I didn't have the requisite beacon/shovel/partner.
Would be fun with winter snow, I'd think.
