Back down in KSBS and my main man Noah (whom I'd "missplaced" for a run on Friday) showed back up. Just as he and I were heading up the hill his classmate, Jed, a precotious British lad (although he later informed me that his parents were from South Africa; he also told me that both his parents were in their seventies, but were clearly in their thirties/forties when I met them, so not sure if I should believe everything that came out of his little head) showed up and it turned out that they were best friends, so even though they were different levels (3/4 and 4/5), I took 'em both out for the day. Jed loved to death wedge straightline everything (because, he said, "turns are too easy"). Had a fun day with the two hyper 5 y/o's, though. Noah stepped up his game and surprised me by skiing most of the day right behind Jed, but making turns and maintaining speed control so that he never once collided with his buddy. Best moment of the day was on "East Ridge" when I stopped to wait for the little guys in front of "Dutchman" and Jed looked at the sign (black diamond) and just began skiing down the run. Noah was a bit hesitant, but once Jed dipped over the rollover we had no choice but to follow. The run was empty and hadn't been skied, so it had a few inches of new snow on top (not to mention that they routinely salt the run, so it was actually not terribly boilerplate underneath). The lads did well for about the first 5 turns and then lottsa butt-sliding and falling insued. Amazingly enough they both exclaimed that they wanted to do the run again (sadly, we didn't have enough time to make that happen). Pretty damn bueno Easter schuss.
