This place is huge with lots of steep terrain. Definitely the Squaw Valley of Utah. Legs were pretty burnt out after 5 straight days of skiing, but we made the best of it.
This was an amazing day despite only an inch or two of fresh snow if you were willing to earn your turns. Some deep powder was found after hiking the ridge above chair Ninety Nine. Some other exploring / billy-goating led to some ski damage for both Justin and myself.
Justin and I found a few stashes here and there early, but as the snow kept falling conditions improved as the day went on. Deer Valley is a better mountain than I had anticipated.
The day after the storm, Justin and I came up to the top of the wild cat lift right as they opened the gate. Did lots of hiking for some bottomless powder turns. Damn this is an amazing mountain.
Flew into SLC early in the morning and was on the slopes for a boot deep powder day before 10am. Tweaked my knee a bit getting heroic with the conditions.
Freezing cold in the morning (-12). First day on my new ON3P Jeffrey's and they kick ass. No fresh snow but left overs from the day before and had a blast once it warmed up lapping Red Dog, Squaw Creek and Exhibition.
It was windy. The power was out for a while. It snowed over a foot the night before. It kept snowing all day. They only opened Chair 11 but it was still a lot of fun.
Worst conditions on the road trip by far, with east coast ice in the morning, which was tough on my sore legs. We did end up finding some good snow off the challenger lift, however - at least when you could see it with the storm and fog moving in.
Went up the Tram to Lone Peak first thing in the morning and skied Liberty Bowl along with some of the epic crew. Fun but after four straight days of skiing bumps, my legs were running on fumes. Stump Farm was the best run of the day. Nice snow until it got warm and slushy after 3pm.
EpicSki gathering day at Moonlight, where the snow was surprisingly soft off trail and the entire mountain was skiing great. Headwaters chutes were steep and fun... and it turns out I do know how to self-arrest.
Day 2 at Jackson, woke up to about an inch or so of fresh snow, which was nice to soften things up but the flat light was brutal. Bumps and trees were on the menu. Skied with Phil, Tricia, Rachel and Kim.
Tried the 2014 Blizzard Bonafides for the first time and loved them immediately.
Skied Jackson Hole for the first time. Day one of the Wyoming / Montana road trip. The Hobacks kicked my ass thoroughly. Rendezvous Bowl off the tram was nice, however.
First real powder day in Tahoe since late December. Went to Squaw in the morning with Phil and Tricia along with everyone else within 200 miles of Tahoe. Flat light but the skiing was great. At lunch we bailed and went over to Northstar and skied untracked lines for the rest of the day, over knee deep in some places. Really fun to get a proper day on my Salomon Rocker2 115's again. One of my best days of the season for sure.
