Overcast, temps in the low-to-mid 30s. Last day. About 90 min of freeski before heading back to catch Joy before she headed to the airport.
A bit of a mountain sampler. The best snow by far was on Lenawee Face, and Dercum's skied well. When I thought I was done, High Noon was so good I had to do one more.
Great last day. I'm going to really miss ski season. Need to find something I can do for relatively cheap this spring.
Mix of sun and clouds, temps in the 40s. A couple of hours of ripping around. Limited terrain, so even without too many people, slopes were crowded. Had a lot of fun ripping arcs through Dercums and off of the face. West Wing skied OK too.
The bottom skied OK but it was so narrow and crowded it was hard to make more than 4-5 turns in a row.
Still, glad I came out. I'm going to really miss skiing.
Sunny, temps in the 30s. About 90 min of freeski before the lines got long. Funtime ripping around, trying to find softer stuff. As expected, West Wall corned up nicely, and the top of the groomers were good. Bottom finally started corning up the last 30 min or so.
Last run was sweet down Sundance, and I wanted to do it again, but the line was way out the corral, so we’ll try again next weekend.
Sunny, temps near 40. A couple hours of freeski. Ran into Fox and Tanya and made a bunch of laps on BMX. When they quit, I moved to Lenawee. Generally snow was good up there. Made some fun arcs and some corn turns off West Wall.
Ripped down to the bottom when the Lenawee line got too long. Was going to make another run on the bottom but thr line at BMX was out the corral so called it around 1115.
Good day. They’ve extended the season and will open next weekend too. So that’s fun.
Mix of sun and clouds, temps in the high 30s. It snowed close to a foot and a half through the week (finally). Since today was A-Basin’s first day open since Sunday…it was crazy crowded. Early Riser was already full at 840 when I got there.
Anyway, 2 hours of freeski. Lift lines super long. I think I only got 6 runs. Up top it was really good. They even re-opened the area under Lenawee below Dercum’s. Wrapped with a couple laps on BMX where lines were a fraction shorter but still out the corral.
Really fun arcs at the bottom when there were windows.
Last weekend. Let’s do this.
Mix of sun and clouds, temps in the low 30s, breezy. About an hour of skiing in the AM. Again, the west wall road and face were the best by far. Made good turns but it was really starting to get crowded.
Hip bugging me a bit so cut the day a bit short.
A Basin decided to open next weekend as well so hopefully today isn’t the last day.
Sunny, temps rising from the low 20s to low 30s. About 2 hours of freeski in the AM. Closing weekend. Met Jim and Michelle in the lodge and ripped around off Lenawee. The gully and Lenawee Face were decent, if slick, but the road and West Wall were sublime after 930 or so. Winter snow, arcable, on the road and nice corn on the face.
Really fun morning until the Lenawee lift line was just too long to be fun. The lower mountain was still locked up at 1115ish when I quit.
Last day tomorrow. Can’t believe we’re ending so early.
Sunny becoming snowy, temps around 30. An hour of freeski to close the day. It snowed yesterday, so snow was wintery but…late in the day means groomed slopes were pretty bumpy but moguls were ok. Overall, can’t help but think earlier in the day would have been good.
Oh well, down to the last weekend of the season. Good to be out here.
Mix of sun and clouds, temps around 30. About an hour of free skiing. 5 or 6 laps on Lenawee. Best was off West Wall, but most things skied well with the recent snow. Wrapped up with a couple laps of BMX making big high angle arcs.

Overcast, flurries, temps near 30. Really icy with sugar on top everywhere. Still, ripped around for 75 min or so. Liked Deuces and Bennett’s the best but generally just enjoyed being out there on Loveland’s closing day.
Went home early to watch the Bruins just get blown out in G4.
Mostly sunny, temps near 40. Ran into Frank and Butch in the lodge and we all skied together for a couple hours. Started with a couple on Richard’s, then Fire Cut, Roulette, Bennett’s, before finishing up on Richard’s. Turtle Creek was the best IMO.

Mix of sun and clouds, temps in the high 20s. Breezy. About 75 min of SL freeski. Thought SL skis might be the call given the freeze. Not quite, but something race-ier probably was. Refrozen rattle on Roulette and portions of Fire Cut, but the rest was actually starting to corn up nicely. The E100s probably would have been a great choice a bit later in the day. Oh well.
Glad i tried it. Only a few days left.
Sunny, temps in the high 40s. 90 min of groomer zooming on the E100s. Last few days of Loveland. Started off Ptarmigan, where both Fire Bowl and Bennett’s were great. Turtle Creek too. Then to 6. Roulette still a bit locked up, but Deuces was amazing. Did a few there. Then wrapped with a run on Fire Bowl befor3 heading home.
Hopefully a few days left.

Fire Cut and Bennett’s into Turtle Creek were groomer perfection. Roulette was pretty locked up and had a lot of ripply terrain—not as fun on the E100s. On GS skis it may have been awesome.
Wrapped the day with consecutive rippers on Fire Cut. Fun morning.
Sunny, temps in the high 20s. 90 min of freeski on the E100s to close the day. It snowed yesterday, so almost everything was good and wintery. Did a bit of an upper mountain tour, Fire Cut, Bennett’s, Roulette, Deuces, followed by South Chutes. Ungroomed was good until got to the runout toward 9, then … pretty awful getting back to Ptarmigan. Finished with laps on Bennett’s, Deuces, and Roulette.
Glad I got out.
Sunny, temps in the mid 30s. About 90 min of E100 freeski from 1030-12. Snow a couple of days ago and it was still wintery up top. Fire Bowl, Bennett’s were both great. Ran into Jim R and Frank T and made a few runs on Roulette. Deuces Wild was excellent as well.
Really a great day of skiing, but I just couldn’t get up-grumpy for whatever reason. Only a couple days left, so hopefully I can turn that around quickly.
Sunny, temps in the 40s. About 75 min of freeski on the E100s to close the day. Mix of Fire Cut, Roulette, and one run of Deuces Wild. Snow was pretty piley on Turtle Creek but otherwise really fun rip. Had to commit harder than expected on the outside ski for anything to happen on Roulette. But last run, nailed it.
Was really tired and not super committed to going up today, but glad I did.

Skiing was pretty good, but big piles and they were starting to glaze/refreeze. Still, glad I made some turns. Only another 2 weeks here at Loveland. Early close not unexpected but definitely a bummer.
Overcast, temps in the 40s, occasional flurries. E99s today. Ripped around for a couple hours, alternating Roulette and Fire Cut.
Fire Cut/Turtle Creek was the winner today, able to rip good big arcs. Really fun before I headed home.
Overcast, temps in the high 30s. Ripping around for a couple hours on the E88s. Ran into Butch Cyr (Masters racer) in the lodge, so made a few laps with him. Roulette was his favorite, but with the poor vis and the E88s, I didn’t love it. Deuces Wild was way better, and Turtle Creek was good.
Still, really fun to ski while there’s still snow.
Sunny, temps in the 40s. Softshell weather. I am getting over a pretty bad cold, and Loveland closed 4, 8, and 9 for the season last week.
So, 1:15 of groomer freeski to close the day. Felt a bit dissociated but really did tip them up and arc them pretty well. Alternating runs on Fire Bowl and Roulette.
Fun day. Really wiped by the end of it. Hopefully Loveland can hold on a little longer. I may need to transition to the old E100s to preserve the life of the E99s.
Sunny, temps rising from the single digits to the low 20s. Did a mountain tour with “Ski Friends” that took a run on most of the more difficult faces, etc. That was fun, but a little slow. Then, took another 1.5 hours to ski off the summit again, take another couple laps off Paradiss, and then find a couple groomers off Richardson and Larch.
Really fun week. Wish it could be longer.
Overcast, blustery, flurries. Temps near 20. Visibility was tough today. Started the day on a chair I didn’t go on last time—Wawa. Serviced some mellow rippable groomers. Then headed up Lookout and found some soft snow. Tricky to see but workable. Then up to the summit where it was just howling. Blowing snow, very cold. Snow was smooth and fun to arc down but just too cold. So headed over to the Standish chair and found some fun bumps and drops there.
After a while, headed to the Teepee Town lift for a few bump laps, which were good. Them wrapped up with a couple more laps on Standish, a lap on the beginner Strawberry lift, and a final ripper off Wawa. Then the long ski out.
Super fun morning. Wish I could stay and ski longer. This place is cool.
Sunny, temps around 30. About 4 hours of skiing with a couple ski talk folks.
Norquay is steep, with a mellow runout. About a third of the terrain on the map was closed because of avalanches above the ski area.
But…a really fun locals hill. Great terrain, good snow, relaxed vibes. No pretense.
Started the day by navigating to the Mystic chair (far skiers left) and skiing those extremely steep groomers. They were pretty icy, so a lot of power slide on the E99s. As the sun began to soften them, more of a stivot or feather to carve.
Then, made our way all the way skiers right to ride the North American chair. It’s a super old double, and they have put chairs in groups of four to allow the chair to run pretty fast for a while before really slowing down for load/unload. It’s quirky but I guess it works. The views from the top of the chair were phenomenal. Just magic. Then, really only one open way down (limited by avalanche debris), so made a long steep bump run. Good skiing really.
Then meandered back to Mystic by taking a couple rides on the chairs in the middle and ripping some groomer. By now Mystic had softened and it was very skiable, but there were a lot of people.
Oh well.
Really fun day. Norquay would clearly be a lot of fun on a powder day or really if you knew the terrain well. Would have been a good day for a carving-oriented ski. Glad I decided to try the locals hill.
