Sunny, temps rising to the mid-30s. GS day. First run was really direct, and I ran 2nd to last in the field of roughly 150. Buoyed by the words of earlier runners, I didn’t give the chicane onto the first pitch any respect…and I should have. After dumping speed and catching up, I skied well to the pitch, where it was super bumpy and I just sucked. Sigh. Finished around the top 3rd overall, about 2.5 sec off Kevin. 2nd run had a bit more swing and was tactically much more straightforward. I skied pretty well! I dumped a bit of speed coming onto the first pitch, it made it up quickly. On the final pitch, skied very controlled, giving up a lot of time, but … way better than the first run, so I’ll take it. Second run was a bit slower for most people, but I was 2.5 sec faster and 1.5 sec closer (1 sec back) to Kevin, so I think it was a good way to end the day. Let’s go, SL tomorrow!
